Runway Pricing: Confirmed Plans, and a 1.1/5 Trustpilot Rating
Runway's tiers are confirmed from its own site, from $15/mo. Its Trustpilot rating, 1.1 out of 5 across 333 reviews, is the worst we have found in this category.
Runway prices its own Gen-4.5 and Aleph models alongside resold third-party access (Kling 3.0 and Seedance among them) from the same credit pool. The tier structure is confirmed directly from Runway's own site, though we found the page itself was internally inconsistent about exactly which third-party models it lists, and Runway carries by far the worst review-site rating of any platform we cover.

Free tier
125 credits, one time at signup, not a recurring daily or monthly allowance. Paid tiers advertise "no watermarks" as a Standard-and-up feature, which implies Free-tier output may carry one, though we could not find explicit confirming text for the Free tier specifically.
API pricing is a separate pool entirely
Runway's developer API runs on its own credit system at dev.runwayml.com, priced flat at $0.01 per credit and not interchangeable with subscription credits. Rates vary sharply by model: Gen-4.5 runs 12 credits/second (about $0.12/sec), Seedance 2.5 runs 20–68 credits/second depending on settings, and Aleph 2 runs 28 credits/second with a 56-credit minimum per generation. One third-party source claims a 25 credits/second rate for Gen-4.5, but the 12 credits/second figure is confirmed independently on both the API docs and by the math on the consumer pricing page itself (625 credits buys 52 seconds), so we are using 12.
What the subscription numbers mean per credit
Standard works out to roughly $0.024/credit monthly ($0.0192 annual). Pro drops to about $0.0156/credit ($0.0124 annual). Max is the cheapest at exactly $0.01/credit monthly ($0.008 annual), which happens to match the flat rate Runway charges on its separate API. If you are comparing Runway's own subscription value against its API, Max is the tier that lines up with API pricing; anything below it costs more per credit than paying for API access directly.
These figures only compare Runway's own plans against each other; a Runway credit is not the same unit as a credit on any other platform in this category.

Which third-party models it actually resells: the official page does not agree with itself
Checking runway.com/pricing twice within minutes returned two different third-party model lists for the same page: one listing "Seedance 2.5," the other listing "Seedance 2.0 Pro/Fast," with Kling 3.0 and Aleph 2.0 consistent across both. Several third-party sources also claim Google Veo 3 and 3.1 are available on Runway's paid plans; we could not find a Veo mention on either direct fetch of the official page ourselves. We are not resolving either disagreement here. If a specific model's availability matters for your decision, confirm it live on runway.com immediately before subscribing, given that the page changed what it showed us within the same session.
By far the worst review-site rating we have found in this category
Runway holds a 1.1 out of 5 rating on Trustpilot across 333 reviews, with 93% of them one star. That is a materially worse distribution than any other platform we track. The recurring, specific complaints: single short generations consuming an entire monthly credit allowance, output that reviewers describe as disregarding the prompt entirely, refund requests denied on the grounds that the service was "consumed" even after a failed generation, a support chatbot that reviewers say blocks escalation to a human, unexpected annual charges when month-to-month billing was expected, and account suspensions for "unusual usage patterns" with refunds refused. We could not load Runway's G2 reviews page to check whether that pattern holds on a second review site; the request returned an access error each time we tried.
The company behind it
Runway raised a $315 million Series E in February 2026, led by General Atlantic with Nvidia, Fidelity and Adobe Ventures among the participants, at a $5.3 billion valuation, roughly double where it stood after its April 2025 Series D. Total raised across all rounds is estimated at around $860 million. Revenue is separately estimated at roughly $300 million for 2025, up from about $122 million in 2024; that figure comes from a third-party revenue-estimation service, not from Runway's own disclosure, so treat it as an estimate rather than an audited number.
Should you subscribe
The per-credit economics on Max are genuinely competitive, matching Runway's own API rate, and the model breadth (native Gen-4.5/Aleph plus resold Kling and Seedance access) is real. Set that against the Trustpilot pattern above, which is specific, recent and unusually one-sided even for this category: test thoroughly on the one-time free credits first, use a monthly rather than annual plan until you have confirmed your own experience with output quality and support, and confirm live model availability before you subscribe for a specific model, since the official pricing page did not show us the same catalog twice.
