The distinction that actually matters: recurring or one-time
A one-time free allowance is a trial. You get one shot to decide, then you either pay or you are done. A recurring daily allowance is something closer to a genuinely free way to use the product indefinitely, just slowly. Half the platforms we track give you a trial; half give you an actual daily allowance.

Leonardo.Ai: the most generous free tier we found
150 tokens land in your account every day, on top of a one-time 150-token bank at signup. That is the largest recurring daily allowance of any platform here, and unlike ImagineArt's free tier, it is not restricted to a stripped-down "lite" model. The one real catch: free-tier generations are public by default, private generation requires a paid plan. If you do not mind your test generations being visible to other users, this is the platform to actually learn on for free rather than just sample once.
Krea: the lowest friction to start
100 units per day, recurring, full access to the real-time canvas, no card required at signup. It does not match Leonardo's raw daily volume, but it is the most frictionless of the recurring tiers: nothing to enter, nothing to cancel if you decide not to continue.
ImagineArt: recurring, but only on the models nobody actually wants
100 credits per day sounds competitive with Krea and close to Leonardo, until you check what it actually buys: only ImagineArt's own lower-tier models. The premium third-party models the platform is actually known for, Runway, Kling, Veo, Grok Video, are locked behind a paid plan even on a good day of free credits.
Higgsfield: recurring, but thin
10 credits per day resets daily rather than accumulating, enough for roughly two short generations before you hit the wall again tomorrow. It recurs, which puts it ahead of the one-time tiers below on paper, but the daily volume is the smallest of any recurring free tier we found. Free exports also carry a visible watermark.
LTX Studio, Runway and OpenArt: one shot, then you pay
LTX Studio gives the largest one-time balance, 800 credits, watermarked and restricted to personal use. Runway's 125 one-time credits buy roughly 52 seconds of its own Gen-4.5 model. OpenArt's 40 one-time credits are the thinnest allowance on this list by a wide margin, and they expire after 7 days whether you use them or not. None of these three give you a way to keep testing past the first sitting without paying.
Magnific: no free tier at all

So which one is actually the most generous
Leonardo.Ai, on the numbers: the largest recurring daily allowance, real models rather than a stripped-down tier, and a one-time bank on top at signup. Krea is the close second if the public-by-default catch on Leonardo's free tier bothers you, since Krea's free generations do not carry that restriction and there is no signup friction at all. Everything below that is either a one-time trial or, on ImagineArt, a recurring allowance that only unlocks the models you are least likely to want.
