Higgsfield's new API sells 50+ video and image models per generation, billed separately from its subscription

One key covers Seedance, Kling, Wan, MiniMax, PixVerse, LTX and Grok on video plus Higgsfield's own models, paid from a prepaid dollar balance that shares nothing with plan credits.

Higgsfield opened a self-serve API on September 16, 2026 selling more than 50 current video and image generation models, including Seedance, Kling, Wan, MiniMax, PixVerse, LTX and Grok, billed per generation from a prepaid US dollar balance. It bills separately from Higgsfield subscriptions, and its model catalog differs from the website lineup.

Higgsfield opened a self-serve developer API on September 16 that sells access to more than 50 current video and image generation models, priced per generation rather than per month. The important detail for anyone already paying the company is that the two products do not touch: a plan, its credits and Unlimited access exist only on higgsfield.ai, while the API draws on its own prepaid balance denominated in US dollars.

The billing model is straightforward. There is no subscription. You top up a balance, each request is charged at the rate published in the catalog, and once the balance reaches zero new requests simply wait instead of failing over into an invoice. Higgsfield says failed requests are not charged. Volume discounts apply automatically as usage grows.

The catalog mixes third-party models with Higgsfield's own, and it is not the website lineup

One key opens every model in the API catalog, which Higgsfield lists as including Seedance, Kling, Wan, MiniMax, PixVerse, LTX and Grok on the video side, Ideogram, Recraft and Qwen on the image side, and its own Soul 2, Soul Cinema, DoP and Marketing Studio Image. There are no standalone audio models; several video models, among them Seedance, Kling, LTX and PixVerse, generate native audio inside the clip as a configuration option that changes the model's rate.

Higgsfield also states that the API catalog is curated separately and that the selection may differ from what is offered on higgsfield.ai. That is worth reading twice if your plan is to prototype in the web product and then port the same model choice into production code, because the model you tested may not be in the catalog you are billed against. The list itself overlaps heavily with what the Higgsfield platform already resells, including Kling 3.0 and Seedance 2.5.

Discounts start at 15 percent and rise by committing to specific models

The stated structure is a 15 percent discount on all models on signup. Picking any four additional models raises the discount as high as 50 percent, alongside verifying a business email and adding a card with $15 on the balance. A first API key comes with 20 concurrent requests. The playground is free, and Higgsfield says sales contact is only needed for monthly commitments and custom volume terms.

The price claim is testable, which is more than most aggregators offer

Higgsfield's pitch is that every model's price is public in the catalog, so a job's cost is known before it runs. That is a claim you can check against your own volumes instead of taking on faith, though the rates being compared are still the ones Higgsfield sets, and no like-for-like comparison against other aggregators has been published alongside the launch. Integration is three calls: POST to the model endpoint with a prompt, receive a request_id and a status_url, then poll until the job completes and read the output file URL. Python and TypeScript SDKs are available, or plain REST from any HTTP client.

The positioning is the part worth watching. Higgsfield's own launch listing points developers to open.higgsfield.ai and invites them to build their own version of the product, which is a strange thing for a subscription business to say in public unless it has decided the margin now lives in wholesale model access rather than in seats. That puts it in roughly the same chair as Runway, which stopped competing on its own models and started reselling the leaders.
